David Chen Sverdlov

David was born in 2008 into a family of musicians. His father is pianist and composer Vladimir Sverdlov Ashkenazy and his mother Lyda Chen Argerich is a lawyer and viola player. David discovered piano playing with Professor Elena Ashkenazy, his grandmother. Aged five and a half, he started piano lessons and studied ten years under Professor Serguei Milstein.
David gave his first concert performance in the 2016 Lugano Progetto Argerich, playing 4 hands with his famous grandmother Martha Argerich. He participated in the national 2019 Swiss Musical Youth Competition and received 1rst Prize with distinction in the Finals. David also obtained the 1st Prize with distinction in the 2018 and 2020 editions of Stuttgart International Karl Adler Jugend Competition, and Second Prize in the Concours de piano Genève Internationale Genthod.
He has been playing recitals and chamber music programs in venues such as Victoria Hall Switzerland, Luzern KKL, Beppu Beacon Hall Japan, Château de Chantilly France, Leiszhalle Hamburg Germany, Guangzhou and Nanjing National Theaters , Shanghai Grand Theater China.
After his debut as soloist with orchestra in Stuttgart Lieder Hall Germany in 2022, David performed in Salle Franz Liszt and Victoria Hall Geneva Switzerland, as well as Grand Esplanades theater in Singapore. He participated in various masterclasses, benefiting from the teachings of Professors Mira Marchenko , Elizabeth Leonskaja , Arie Vardi , and Stephen Kovacevich among others.
He is part of the pre-college cursus of Haute Ecole de Musique Geneva under Professor Mladen Tcholitch and is currently pursuing studies in Musica Mundi School of Music, Belgium. In 2026, David will perform Tchaikowsky Piano Concerto No 1 in Bangkok and Singapore Grand Esplanades, Poulenc double piano concerto in Geneva Victoria Hall, and has recitals planned in Europe and Asia .
