Swiss and Neapolitan, Fabrizio von Arx began studying the violin at the age of five under the guidance of G. Leone.
A graduate of the San Pietro a Majella Conservatory in Naples, he won the Vittorio Veneto Competition at a very young age, along with numerous national competitions for young talents.
His debut at the age of sixteen with the RAI Orchestra of Naples launched him into an intense national and international career. Since then, he has been a guest of major concert series and festivals such as:
- Le Serate Musicali in Milan,
- the Associazione Scarlatti of Naples,
- the Ravenna Festival,
- the RadioRai3 Concerts at the Quirinale in Rome,
- the Cité de la Musique in Paris,
- the Bellerive Festival,
- Les Grands Interprètes in Neuchâtel,
- the Tonhalle in Zurich,
- Wigmore Hall in London,
- the Wiener Saal in Salzburg,
- and the Berlin Philharmonie.
Fabrizio von Arx is regularly invited to perform with major orchestras under the direction of renowned conductors, including:
- the Orchestra of Padua and Veneto,
- the Prague Chamber Orchestra,
- the Prague Sinfonia Orchestra with Christian Benda,
- the Moscow Soloists with Yuri Bashmet,
- the Japan Royal Chamber Orchestra with Shunsaku Tsutsumi,
- the Zurich Symphony Orchestra with Alexander Vedernikov,
- and the Berliner Symphoniker with Lior Shambadal.
He has also toured in the United States and in France, Germany, Belgium, China, and Switzerland.
In the field of chamber music, his decades-long collaboration with Bruno Canino has formed a duo highly appreciated by both audiences and critics, as have his partnerships with Roberto Prosseda, Julien Quentin, Franco Petracchi, and Finghin Collins.
An RCA Sony Classical artist since 2013, his two most recent albums, French Impressionists (with piano) and Live Recording in Prague (with orchestra), have been acclaimed by the international press.
His discography also includes the complete works for violin and piano by Prokofiev, recorded with Antonio Valentino and released by Nuova Era, as well as the complete Schumann sonatas with Bruno Canino on the Dynamic label, awarded five stars by Musica magazine.
Fabrizio von Arx plays a Golden Period violin by A. Stradivari from 1720, ceremonially renamed in September 2018 by Cardinal Ravasi at St. Mark’s Basilica in Venice. Since then, the instrument has borne the name Stradivari “The Angel” ex–Madrileno.
